‘Saturday Night Live’: Shane Gillis, Lady Gaga Set to Host in March

Saturday Night Live will open its landmark 50th season on NBC with a run of four consecutive live shows, leading off with an Emmy winner and featuring several repeat hosts.

Hacks star Jean Smart will host the season premiere on Sept. 28, with Jelly Roll as musical guest; both will make their debuts on the show. On Oct. 5, comedian Nate Bargatze will take his second turn as host, with musical guest Coldplay.

They’ll be followed by Ariana Grande and Stevie Nicks on Oct. 12, and Michael Keaton and Billie Eilish on Oct. 19. After a one-week break, John Mulaney will host on Nov. 2 with musical guest Chappell Roan. Grande will make her second appearance as host, Keaton his fourth and Mulaney his sixth. Bill Burr will return to host the post-election episode on Nov. 9 (his second time as host) with musical guest Mk.gee. Charli XCX will both host and serve as musical guest on Nov. 16.

Kicking off December, Paul Mescal will host the Dec. 7 show with musical guest Shaboozey. Former castmembers Chris Rock (Dec. 14) and Martin Short (Dec. 21) are set for the final shows of 2024, with musical guests Gracie Abrams and Hozier.

The first live show of 2025 will feature Dave Chappelle — making his fourth appearance as host — and musical guest GloRilla on Jan. 18. Timothée Chalamet will be both the host and musical guest a week later, coming off his turn as Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown.

In addition to its regular Saturday episodes — which air at 11:30 p.m. ET/8:30 p.m. PT on NBC — SNL will celebrate a half-century on the air with a primetime special in February 2025.

Following the 50th anniversary special, comedian Shane Gillis will host for the second time on March 1, with musical guest Tate McRae. Lady Gaga will be both the host and musical guest on March 8 — her second time as host and fifth as the musical guest.

Three new featured players (Ashley Padilla, Emil Wakim and Jane Wickline) will join returning castmembers for season 50. Marcello Hernandez, Michael Longfellow and Devon Walker move up to the main cast after being featured players last season, while Punkie Johnson, Molly Kearney and Chloe Troast departed between seasons.
