Before closing the chapter on performing as Childish Gambino, Donald Glover is releasing two final albums under the moniker.
A day after making a surprise appearance during Tyler, the Creator’s headlining set at Coachella, Glover shared the news of upcoming music during an Instagram Gilga Radio livestream that aired on Sunday night.
Bando Stone & the New World was the first of the two albums to be officially announced during the livestream, which was said to be “available this summer” in a mock radio ad. Following a recording sharing the name of the LP, Glover premiered a new, untitled song.

The livestream also featured an interview with Glover, in which he shared that he’s releasing an updated version of his 2020 album, 3.15.20, which will be offered under the title that the rapper originally wanted for it, Atavista. “We put it out kind of quickly, I didn’t master or mix it [when it was released],” he explained. “I just put it out. I was going through a lot.”
Last month, Glover shared the 11-song tracklist, spanning 55 minutes, for Atavista on his Instagram Story.
Glover then mentioned that besides the reworked Atavista, there is another Childish Gambino record coming, which is the aforementioned Bando Stone & the New World, a soundtrack to his film of the same name. “I started working on this film called Bando Stone & the New World and I always loved soundtracks,” said Glover.
Following the interview, the Grammy-winning artist shared two new mixes from Atavista: “Little Foot Big Foot” featuring Young Nudy (for which Glover teased a music video was coming soon during his interview) and “Human Sacrifice.”
Glover has not shared release dates for the upcoming LPs yet.
